Chorley Travel Lounge

Chorley council case study

Chorley Travel Lounge maybe Chorley’s newest travel agency but it has a wealth of experience behind it.

The business in Fazakerley Street was opened by two colleagues who then employed a former colleague and have between them a total of 76 years in the industry.

Chorley Travel Lounge is an independent travel agency which means it’s not affiliated to any one tour operator. This gives it the flexibility to deal with a wider range of travel companies and tour operators and access to exclusive deals ensuring there is more choice for customers.

Chorley Travel Lounge can offer all types of travel arrangements, package holidays, ski holidays, flight only, tailor made, tours, cruises, UK holidays and breaks to suit all budgets.
Its main focus is to offer its customers honest, impartial, friendly advice and excellent customer service.

It is ABTA bonded which protects all its holidays and ensures that the ABTA code of conduct which expects a high level of service standards, fair terms of trading and provide accurate information is adhered to.

Chorley Travel Lounge offers a relaxing and friendly environment for customers to call in and discuss their travel plans with its courteous, knowledgeable and efficient team.

The people behind the business
Chorley Travel Lounge was set up by Lynda Doherty and Tracy Hall and was born out of their passion for the industry in which they’d worked for over 40 years.

When the company they’d all worked for was undergoing a restructure, Lynda and Tracy decided that the experience and knowledge they had was enough to set up their own independent agency.

The two owners, partners and directors were then joined by Kath Durham who is employed part time and has 36 years in the industry.

And after opening the doors of the ABTA-bonded business to customers on 21 September 2013, they have now recruited an additional member of staff because of the success of the business so far.

Why we chose Chorley

In planning their new venture they received valuable help and advice from Chorley Council.

Lynda and Tracy said: “We had lots of help from the council starting with business workshops offering valuable help and advice with our business planning, and grants to help us purchase start up equipment and for refurbishment of the interior and outside signage. We also received a reduction in the business rates for the first six months.

“I would advise anyone thinking of setting up in business to think about Chorley. The council is extremely helpful with advice and encourages independent businesses that are going to bring something different to town. Customers visit Chorley because it’s a market town with a more varied selection of shops which are different to the big names that are found on any high street.”
